Frédéric "Fred" Duval (born January 5, 1965 in Rouen ) is a French comic book author .

Life

Fred Duval was born in Rouen in 1965 . In the 80s he played guitar in a rock band, later he studied history. In the early 90s he wrote scenarios for comics for the first time. His cartoon strips Fish'n'Ship (drawings by Luc Turlan) have appeared in numerous regional daily newspapers.

In 1995 Duval published his first comic album, 500 rifles (in the original: 500 fusils ) with Fabrice Lamy and Thierry Cailleteau, a western parody. In the same year he took over the Carmen Mc Callum series from Olivier Vatine , which he continued with the artist Gess. In the same universe, Duval wrote numerous other series with changing artists, such as Travis (with Christophe Quet ), Code Mc Callum (with Didier Cassegrain ) and Carmen + Travis .

In October 2016, a volume by Duval, drawn by Corentin Rouge , was published as part of the XIII Mystery series .

At the International Comics Festival in Chambéry, Duval and Didier Cassegrain were awarded the prize for the best album of the year for Les Nymphéas noirs in 2019 .
