Gess (comic artist)
Gess (actually Stéphane Girard , born June 21, 1961 in Rouen ) is a French comic artist .
Life
Stéphane Girard was born in Rouen in 1961. He became interested in drawing at an early age, but initially turned to screen printing and layouting. After meeting the creators of the “Café Noir” fanzine , he began to deal with comics. He initially designed the Teddy Bear series , which was published by Zenda. In the mid-1990s, Olivier Vatine suggested that he start a new series at Delcourt - this is how Carmen Mc Callum (scenario by Fred Duval ) was born. This science fiction series has been his most important work for more than a decade. After the publication of the eighth volume, he left the successful series to focus on other projects. In addition to the comic projects, Girard also creates illustrations for science fiction novels, in particular for works by Orson Scott Card and Pierre Bordage .
Girard has been married since 1998 and has two children. He lives and works in Nantes .
