Some characters, such as Dario Fulci , his assistant Sandy Strummer , UNO agent Mr. Young , Paquito Mannoni , the reporter Elena Dinova and the AI Dommy appear in both series.

Another spin-off is the Code Mc Callum series , also written by Fred Duval but drawn by Didier Cassegrain . There is also the Carmen + Travis series .

short version

Volumes 1–3 (action period: March 2053)

Carmen Mc Callum frees the cryogenic prisoner Naoko Sonoda from an ocean-going prison on behalf of the Japanese Yakuza. During the escape, her helicopter is destroyed and Mc Callum is stranded on the Australian coast, where she meets John Russell. Russell is a former secret agent and he and his friend Seaside Johnny help Mc Callum to thaw Sonoda out of cryo-sleep. When Sonoda was handed over to the yakuza, there were disputes both with the yakuza and with the Australian police, led by Captain Scott Brennan. Mc Callum, Russell, Sonoda and Johnny can escape with a spaceship for the time being.

In space, Sonoda leads the group to an abandoned space station where they had hidden a box full of drugs that had been stolen from the yakuza before they were arrested. This box also contains a biodisk, a storage medium that Inoshiro Tsuburaya, the head of the Yakuza, wants to regain possession of. In order to have a tracking chip that was implanted in Sonoda in prison removed, the group around Sonoda and Mc Callum lands at the lunar airport. The Hacker Bug, a friend of Mc Callum, helps them to uncover the secret of the Biodisk. While Johnny and Sonoda managed to escape from the moon in time, Russell and Mc Callum were arrested by the police and a UN force. However, the UN offers Mc Callum a collaboration to get the disc back.

Back on Earth, Tsuburaya can get his hands on Sonoda and the Biodisk. Tsuburaya needs the disk in order to complete the merging of his mind with an artificial intelligence and thus to achieve eternal life. The final dispute breaks out on an Indonesian island. Mc Callum can free Sonoda, but Tsuburaya's merging with artificial intelligence has already begun. The following battle between artificial intelligence and bug is taking place on the internet. Bug can win the fight, but has to give up his human shell and also merge with the artificial intelligence on the web. Tsuburaya, on the other hand, dies and his machine for merging people and machines is destroyed.

Volumes 4–5 (action period: June 2053 - July 2053)

Mc Callum and Sonoda, who meanwhile work as agents for the UN, take the industrialist Samuel Earp prisoner on a spectacular mission. Its company manufactures nanotechnological weapons that are of great concern to the international community. After the arrest, there is a confrontation between the UNO agents and the Nevada police, because Earp is also responsible for a disaster that killed 123 farmers in Nevada in 2047. At the same time, Earp is threatening to unleash his nano-combat drones on American cities if he is not released within four hours. The big showdown takes place near Las Vegas. When a survivor of the 2047 disaster shoots Earp, the nano-combat drones are released, killing any living organisms they encounter. Mc Callum can finally destroy the combat drones with the help of Bug using an electromagnetic pulse.

Volumes 6–8 (action period: September 2053 - March 2055)

After his ship was torpedoed by a mysterious submarine, Carmen Mc Callum's partner Russell was reported missing. A few months later, Mc Callum is contacted by Brennan who wants to solve the death of his friend James Ngata. Ngata, a former athlete, had participated in a genetic doping program and was later declared a genetically modified living being (GVL). Before his death, he was employed as a security officer at the pharmaceutical company Transgenic . It turns out that Russell is still alive and charged with freeing the scientist Raj Kapoor. Kapoor is being held captive on an island by Transgenic. Mc Callum and Russell finally meet again during the liberation campaign.

Leonid Mayakovsky, a powerful producer of genetically modified creatures, holed up in the Siberian city of Norilsk. Mr. Young tries to recruit Carmen Mc Callum to get rid of Mayakovsky. His death is part of a deal on the success of which the secret project of Raj Kapoor and his GVL friends depends. After Mc Callum refuses the contract, Russell is recruited. Concerned about Russell, Mc Callum also makes his way to Siberia. It comes to a clash between Mc Callum and Mayakovsky, from which Mc Callum ultimately passes away as the winner. At the same time, Kapoor announced his plan to free the population of the mining colonies, which mainly consist of GVL, from the oppression of the mining companies and to proclaim an independent GVL nation. Therefore, he encourages like-minded people to join him and fly together to the space port Ceres in the asteroid belt.

Naoko Sonoda is now a lieutenant for the orbital armed forces of the UN. Carmen Mc Callum volunteers to accompany Russell, Young, Kapoor, and a delegation from GVL to the asteroid belt. Your goal is the liberation of the space port of Ceres, which has been blocked for months by the corporations who want to starve the people striving for independence. In order to start negotiations, the GVL spaceship meets a UN spaceship on which there are not only Sonoda but also corporate envoys. At the last second, Mc Callum and Russell prevent an attack on the negotiations, but Russell is killed. On landing on Ceres, the delegation is ambushed to which Kapoor falls victim, while Mc Callum survives seriously injured.

Volumes 9-12 (period of action: 2056)

In Cannes, Mc Callum assassinated Dario Fulci, the general manager of Transgenic , whom she blames for the death of John Russell. This vendetta annoys Christina Cook-Iwanov, the chairwoman of Gazprod and former client of Mc Callums. Mc Callum is said to have stolen documents from Pascal de Cambre's Corsican villa to make amends. With the help of French friends, she tries to get to the island undiscovered. A hurricane is approaching on the way to De Cambres Villa. Mc Callum mingles with a group of locals who want to seek refuge from the storm in De Cambres villa. In this way, she arrives at the site unnoticed and can take possession of the documents (patents for wastewater treatment).

At the same time, Captain Brennan is captured in New Caledonia on behalf of Dommy, an artificial intelligence. Dommy's goal is to take control of the world's water supplies. While trying to free Brennan, Mc Callum is incapacitated by Dommy with the help of a brain implant. Through this leverage, Mc Callum is forced to help Dommy sabotage a Gazprod gas hydrate production facility in the New Caledonian Coral Sea. Mc Callum then learns that a friend believed dead, Nelson, is being kept in a cryo-capsule in Jerusalem. However, since an attack on the water supply carried out by Dommy, Jerusalem has been in a civil war-like state in which autonomous combat drones pose a threat to everyone. Cook-Iwanov and Mc Callum's friends succeed in luring Dommy into a trap and removing the implant from Mc Callum's head. Another planned attack by Dommy on the drinking water supply of the entire Golan region can be prevented at the last minute.
