Pierre Bordage
Pierre Bordage (born January 29, 1955 in La Réorthe ) is a French science fiction author.
His literary success began with his space opera trilogy Les Guerriers du silence (1993–95), of which 50,000 copies were sold. This trilogy and its Wang cycle (1996–97) were praised by critics as essential elements in the renewal of French science fiction in the 1990s, after this genre had long been dominated by English-language authors.
Pierre Bordage is one of the best-known authors of French popular literature . He has written over forty novels and many short stories, including works that can be assigned to the genre of historical fantasy , science fantasy or the detective novel . His works also include adaptations of films and some film scripts, as well as theater or comic adaptations of his novels.
Pierre Bordage's works have a humanistic orientation. They address the discovery of spirituality , the fight against fanaticism and the abuse of political-religious power for the benefit of individuals. Although it can be attributed to science fiction, the examination of the protagonists takes on a greater significance in them than the representation of scientific and technical developments. They draw inspiration from epics and myths around the world.
Pierre Bordage has won various literary prizes, including the Grand Prix de l'Imaginaire (1994) and the Grand Prix Paul-Féval de littérature populaire (2000). In 2016 he was awarded the Prix Cyrano for his life's work .
