The coast pilots (English title: Ritter's Cove ) is an adventure - TV show from 1980. It is a joint production of the Canadian broadcaster CBC , the German production company TaurusFilm and the British Global Television. The 26 episode series is about a German pilot who runs a small airline in Canada. In Canada the series ran on CBC, in Germany it was broadcast on ZDF .

During the economic crisis, the pilot Karl Ritter emigrated to the Canadian coast near Vancouver . There he founded the small airline Ritter's Flugdienst . When he lost his flying license in old age, he was forced to hire the young pilot, Kate Ashcroft. Other characters in the series are Karl's brother Franz, who comes to visit him and wants to join his company; Karl's son Tim, who is considered missing after an accident and is able to escape captivity, as well as his sons Robert and Arnie. The plot of the individual episodes consists mainly of adventures resulting from flight missions.
Production and broadcast
The Coastal Pilots was filmed in British Columbia as a joint production by CBC, Taurus Film and Global Television . The producer was David Pears, the writers were Lyal and Barbara Brown. The series was conceived as a replacement for the long-running series Strandpiraten , but did not get beyond a season with 26 episodes. On CBC Television was Ritter's Cove erstausgestrahlt of 19 September 1980 to 20 March 1981, the German version of the ZDF of 16 September 1981 to 24 March 1982nd
