Die Nixer were a German casting band that made it to number 73 in the German single charts in 2003 with their first and only single , on which there was nothing to be heard except for minutes of silence. The satirical project, digitally advertised by the radio station Project 89.0 , was a parody of talent shows such as Deutschland sucht den Superstar .

history

After several weeks of casting , five young people from the Project 89.0 broadcast area were selected from more than 3000 applicants based on the strict criteria that they are not allowed to do anything and should look like it . On their debut single Nix , apart from an initial count-in (“One-two-three-four”), only the acoustic background noise of the room can be heard. The band, which was advertised with penetrating jingles in the radio program of Project 89.0 , immediately made it into the German single charts, as the station motivated its listeners to buy the single in the first and only week.

Despite the success of their debut, the band decided, unlike the great role models from television, to make a radical change in style. On her second single, a cover version of was The House of the Rising Sun to hear.

Just a few months after the band, in August 2003, the radio station Project 89.0 was digitally disbanded and replaced by 89.0 RTL (“Today's Best Hits”).
