The Austrians
Die Oesterreicher is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 22). The work was performed for the first time on November 23, 1845 in the Zum Sperl dance hall in Vienna.
Remarks
The waltz contains folk music motifs from Austria, from which the name is derived. The playing time on the CD below is 8 minutes and 11 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can change by up to a minute plus or minus. On the 52 CD complete edition of the orchestral works by Johann Strauss (Sohn), which was published by the Naxos label , the work can be heard as the ninth track on the 3rd CD.
