Harold William Henry

Harold William Henry SSCME ( Korean : 현 하 롤드; born July 11, 1909 in Northfield , Minnesota, USA; † March 1, 1976 ) was an American clergyman and Apostolic Prefect and Archbishop in Korea.

Henry was ordained a priest for the St. Columban Mission Society on December 21, 1932 . Pius XII. appointed him in October 1954 as Apostolic Prefect of Kwangju in Korea. On January 26, 1957, the Apostolic Prefecture was promoted to Vicariate Apostolic and he was appointed Titular Bishop of Coryala . Archbishop Richard James Cushing , Archbishop of Boston , consecrated him on May 11, 1957 with the assistance of John Joseph Wright , Bishop of Worcester , and Jeremiah Francis Minihan , Auxiliary Bishop of Boston. On March 10, 1962, John XXIII. the Apostolic Vicariate into an archbishopric and he Henry became its first archbishop. He attended three sessions of the Vatican Council. On June 28, 1971 Pope Paul VI gave birth . him from his previous duties and appointed him Apostolic Administrator of Cheju and Titular Archbishop of Thubunae in Numidia .

His motto was Ad Jesum per Mariam.
