The Tüdelband

The Tüdelband is a Hamburg band that makes pop music exclusively in Low German . The band was founded in summer 2009 by Miriam "Mire" Buthmann . The band has been performing as a duo since the end of 2017, previously they were a quartet for 8 years. The Tüdelband consists of Mire Buthmann (vocals and guitar) and Malte Müller (drums and bass pedal). Mire plays electric and acoustic guitar, painted the drums and organ pedals for the basses. Singing is done by both. The name of the band alludes to the Low German couplet An de Eck steiht'n Jung mit'n Tüdelband (Tüdelband = Low German for toy tires ).

history

From 2009 the band played numerous concerts, including a. at Nordic Nights with Godewind or at the Platt-Art Festival in the Oldenburg State Theater . In 2011 the Tüdelband played their first continuous tour and gave over 80 concerts in one year, mainly in northern Germany. This was followed by appearances on radio and television, concerts at the Green Week in Berlin , at state horticultural shows and the Hamburg harbor birthday . In 2012 the album Nieland was released and Tim Schicker joined the band as a guitarist. Concerts were also played in southern Germany and the Netherlands. In December 2012, the Tüdelband completed a living room tour from Amsterdam to Hamburg.

Commitment, media coverage

The Tüdelband is involved with performances for the associations Kultur im Prison and Clubkinder and supports the Plattsounds competition . The NDR, Spiegel Online and numerous print media reported about the band and their music. A recurring topic in the reporting is the consistent use of Low German by the Tüdelband.
