from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German-speaking writers of the 18th and 19th centuries is the title of "a lexicon " written by Elisabeth Friedrichs (1910–1990) librarian at the Tübingen University Library . The reference work , published in 1981 in Stuttgart by Verlag JB Metzler , also Volume 9 of the Repertories on German Literary History , contains biographies of more than 4,000 German-speaking women writers from the 18th and 19th centuries, but exclusively from the field of fiction . The selection includes the cohorts of women born between shortly before 1700 and at the latest in 1875. Pure travel writers, letter writers, biographers, women's rights activists as well as political, scientific and spiritual writers were not recorded unless at least one poem was found. In addition to the full names and dates of the writers' lives, the names and dates of their fathers and husbands were also given in order to show the life circle of the individual personalities. Using other married names and pseudonyms, more than 8,000 names could be identified.

The 388-page work with plastic cover was given ISBN 978-3-476-00456-7 and ISBN 3-476-00456-2 .
