The enraged elves is a fairy tale . It is included in second place in the Irish fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm , which they translated from Fairy legends and traditions of the South of Ireland by Thomas Crofton Croker in 1825 .

The immoral and fearless Caroll O'Daly meets a rider on the way to Kilmallock at night who wants to join the elves on Knockfierna. He follows him and throws a stone into the shaft, which flies back and crushes his nose for life.

According to Grimm: Knockfierna means 'Mountain of Truth'. Caroll O'Daly and his gender are known in Irish sagas and songs for their courage.

In the text, the hero mockingly calls the elves the little Red Riding Hood .
