Little Perthes is one of the children's portraits by the German painter Philipp Otto Runge ; it is exhibited in the castle museum in the Weimar City Palace.

description

The picture shows the four year old Luise Perthes. She was the daughter of Friedrich Perthes and his wife Caroline Ilsabe , a daughter of Matthias Claudius . Perthes belonged to the circle of friends around Daniel Runge , the painter's brother, in Hamburg.

The girl in a yellow dress is standing in front of a window on a red upholstered chair in her parents' apartment on Hamburg's Jungfernstieg . The familiar home environment contrasts with the distance in which the light of the bright sun beckons. However, the girl does not look into the distance, but looks thoughtfully at the viewer.
