The federal service flag (short: federal service flag ) shows the Austrian federal coat of arms , which extends evenly into the two red stripes of the national flag. The upper beak edge of the national coat of arms should end with the upper red stripe and the handle end of the hammer should touch the lower red stripe. The ratio of the height of the service flag to its length is two to three. This also applies to the red-white-red sea flag .
The Federal President , the President of the National Council , the Chairman of the Federal Council , the President and the Vice-President of the Court of Auditors , the members of the Federal Government , the State Secretaries , the members of the Ombudsman's Office , the Governor as an organ of indirect federal administration, are allowed to fly the federal official flag Authorities, offices, institutions and other agencies of the federal government, the Austrian federal forests , the armed forces , as well as the universities and colleges.
The unauthorized use (use) of the federal official flag is an administrative offense that can be punished with an administrative fine of up to 3,600 euros.
