The Diepholzer Maschinenfabrik GmbH Fritz Schöttler shortly DIEMA , was a German machine factory based in Diepholz . The most important branch of production was locomotive construction . Small locomotives equipped with diesel engines or accumulators were specially manufactured for narrow-gauge field , peat and mine railways as well as standard-gauge shunting locomotives.

history

In the early days of Diepholzer Maschinenfabrik , founded in 1879 , mainly agricultural machines were repaired, later various small machines and drives for mills were manufactured. In 1913, the company founder handed the company over to his three sons Fritz, Christoph and Heinrich, who converted it into a general partnership. Heinrich, a trained electrical engineer, soon founded his own company. In 1924 the production of light rail locomotives began, the company name ( company ) was changed to Diepholzer Maschinenfabrik Fritz Schöttler . A decline in demand for light railways could be partially compensated for with increasing exports abroad and new branches of production, but DIEMA had to file for bankruptcy in 1993.

Due to differences of opinion, Christoph Schöttler left the family business in 1929 to found the Christoph Schöttler Maschinenfabrik GmbH (SCHÖMA) in the same place .

Delivery program

From 1960 to 1964 DIEMA delivered a total of 18 locomotives of the type DS 90 and 2 DS 60 to the German Navy for the narrow-gauge railways in the naval ammunition depots in Aurich and Laboe . One DS 90 and two DS 60 are in the Muttenthalbahn collection in Witten-Bommern. These are still in use there in the museum. AG Märkische Kleinbahn in Berlin maintains an operational DVL 15/1 (manufacture no. 2935). The Moorbahn Ahlenmoor operates the three locomotives DS 14 (manufacture no. 2033), DS 20 (manufacture no. 2575) and DL 6 (manufacture no. 2040) as a tourist train. The type DS 20 locomotive (serial no. 2575) was used as a material rail from 1962 to 1986 by the Lower Saxony port authority of Cuxhaven and later by the Hamburg authority for electricity and port construction on the island of Neuwerk . The Zillertalbahn has been operating two DFL 150 (built in 1990) under the numbers D 1 and D 2 since 2013, which were previously in use at Holcim in Brunnen SZ . The "Schwoabapfeil" diesel locomotive has been running on the Killesbergbahn Stuttgart since 1992. It was built under the serial number 5198.
