Dieter Brandt

Dieter Brandt (born February 17, 1938 ; † February 7, 2017 in Sansibar ) was a German lawyer and handcrafted speaker who achieved widespread notoriety in the role of Till , a symbolic figure of the Mainz Carnival.

Life

Brandt studied law and received his doctorate in 1965 with a study on the limits of personal medical liability under current law and taking into account the reform of the criminal law .

He became known to a broad national audience through his activities in the carnival. From the 1960s to the 1980s he played in the Mainz Fastnacht the Till that of Till Eulenspiegel ajar symbol of the Mainzer Carneval clubs . In 1988 he also published a book under the title Till - It is not easy to be a fool , in which he processed his experiences with the television carnival. After the book was published, he was no longer present on TV Carnival. Brandt, who last lived in Wiesbaden, died at the age of 78 while on vacation in Zanzibar.
