Dieter Düding

Dieter Düding (born November 3, 1940 in Solingen ) is a German modern historian . Until 2005 he taught modern history at the University of Cologne .

Düding received his doctorate from the University of Cologne in 1970 and completed his habilitation there in 1981. He taught there as a private lecturer and later as an adjunct professor . From 1988 to 1990 he was visiting professor at the Free University of Berlin . He has published numerous works on the political, social and cultural history of the 19th and 20th centuries, in particular on the history of nationalism as well as on the history of parties and parliamentarism .
