Dieter I. of Gemmingen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dieter I. von Gemmingen (mentioned in 1283, 1287 and 1297) was the landlord in Gemmingen and the last common ancestor of all members of the barons of Gemmingen who are still alive today .

Life

He was a son of Albrecht von Gemmingen († before 1283), who sat in the Gemminger Middle Castle , the family seat. Dieter still had three brothers: Schweiker, Eberhard and Gerold, with whom he was knighted by Emperor Rudolph. In 1297 Dieter sealed the seal together with his brother Eberhard. Nothing seems to be known about the rest of his life. The sources also do not reveal how the parental family property was divided up among the brothers. We only know that Gerold received a downward gradient in Bischofsheim and a house in Sinsheim. Since no descendants have been handed down for the other two brothers Schweiker and Eberhard, who are also considered heirs of the family estate, the family estate probably remained in the possession of Dieter and his descendants.

family

He was married to Mechthild (Metz, Mechtildis) von Talheim . Among his sons Dietrich d. Ä. and Dieter d. J. divided the von Gemmingen family into the tribes A (today's headquarters: Burg Guttenberg ) and B (today's headquarters: Burg Hornberg ).

Progeny:

  • Dietrich d. Ä. (adult from 1339; † around 1374) ⚭ Elisabeth von Mauer († 1354), tribe A (Guttenberg)
  • Dieter d. J. († 1359) ⚭ Anna von Gochsheim, tribe B (Hornberg)
  • Margarethe ⚭ Friedrich von Nippenburg († 1360)
  • Bertha ⚭ Balsares from Titzingen
