Dieter Schütte

Dieter Schütte (born June 4, 1923 in Cologne , † February 8, 2013 in Cologne) was a German publisher .

Life

Dieter Schütte was born into a respected Cologne family, both father and grandfather were general directors of the Kölnisch-Wasser-Fabrikanten 4711 . Schütte graduated from high school in Kreuzgasse . He was then called up for military service and was first lieutenant in the Navy at the end of World War II.

He completed an apprenticeship as a perfumer in Geneva and southern France and studied chemistry and business administration. As a result, he began an apprenticeship at Dragoco in Holzminden, which was terminated prematurely, which prevented him from joining 4711. Then he became a partner in a metal goods company.

In 1950 Schütte married Brigitte Neven DuMont from the Cologne publishing house family Neven DuMont. The marriage had three children. The firstborn son Arthur died as a young man in a car accident. In 1957 their son Christian DuMont Schütte was born. In his second marriage, in which three children were born, Dieter Schütte was married to Ute Friedrichs.

In 1960 he became a personally liable partner of the M. DuMont Schauberg publishing house . Since the mid-1960s, Schütte worked alongside Alfred Neven DuMont and from October 1990 was a partner in the GmbH and limited partner of the KG as well as deputy chairman of the supervisory board. After his departure in 2003, Schütte was an honorary member of the Supervisory Board. Schütte was a member of the CDU Economic Council .

He took care of the culture and development of his hometown and in 1992 received the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class.
