The Hintere Brandjochspitze ( 2599 m above sea level ) is a summit located about 200 meters northwest of the Vorderen Brandjochspitze in the northern chain above Innsbruck . It towers over its "front" neighbor by 40 meters.
The summit can be reached in difficulty level UIAA I in 20 minutes from the Vorderen Brandjochspitze through a channel to the left of the ridge. A more difficult ascent ( UIAA III- ) leads over the west ridge from the Hohe Warte . Other paths over the north-facing Hippengrat ( UIAA IV ) from the Hippenspitze ( 2388 m above sea level ) and from the north-west ( UIAA IV ) are rarely used.
