Dietrich (Palatinate Saxony)

Dietrich , also Theodericus or Thiedrich († March 6, 995 ) was Count Palatine of Saxony from 982 .

The parents are Waldered and Bertha (both † around 984) (R. Schölkopf suspects that the father was Count Palatine Adalbero of Saxony ).

In 984 he tried in vain to win the favor of Duke Heinrich , the "squabbler", after his release from prison on his way to Saxony. Together with his brother Siegbert ( Sicco I. , Sibertus, Sigibertus, on the Asselburg ) they barefooted to ask his forgiveness in Corvey .

According to a royal charter from August 10, 990, Sicco I. owned the county in Liesgau and Dietrich the county in Ostfalen with the strongly fortified Mundburg .

He married Fritheruna, possibly daughter of the Count Palatine Adalbero (both parents may be swapped.)
