Dietrich III./V. (* between 1160 and 1170; † 1202 at the latest) is definitely documented as Count von Kleve between 1173 and 1193 . While he is referred to in the older research as Dietrich V. (occasionally also as Dietrich IV.), In the more recent research based on Kraus, he is called Dietrich III. counted.

Life

Dietrich was the son of Count Dietrich II./IV. von Kleve and his wife Adelheid von Sulzbach born.

When his father died in 1172 he was still a child. In 1182 he married Margarethe von Holland ( Gerulfinger ); both sons followed their father as Count Dietrich IV./VI. from Kleve .

According to an uncertain source, Dietrich III./V. 1198 to have been involved in the establishment of the Teutonic Knight Order in Akkon . Presumably he died in the Holy Land.
