Gerulfinger

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gerulfingers were the family of the first counts of (West) Friesland and Holland . It was named after Gerulf the Elder († after 839), who is believed to be descended from the Friesian King Radbod († 719) (the statement applies to a granddaughter who is not known by name, but should refer to the male line). The family died out on the main line in 1299. A branch line were the Counts of Bentheim , which also died out in 1421.
