Ekbert von Bentheim (* in the 13th century; † June 7, 1335 ) was Vice Dominus and Canon in Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Ekbert von Bentheim was the son of Count Egbert von Bentheim and his wife Hadewigis of Oldenburg, daughter of Count Johann von Oldenburg , the Gerulfinger family , the first count family in (West) Friesland and Holland . His siblings were

Act

In the spring of 1306 Ekbert formed an alliance against Bishop Otto with part of the cathedral chapter , including the cathedral dean Lutbert von Langen and the cathedral sexton Wikbold von Lohn , which ended in a process and led to the removal of the bishop by the Cologne archbishop Heinrich . He held the office of Vice-Dominus, which included the representation of the sovereign, until 1333. In the following year he became cathedral vicar and remained in this office until his death. Ekbert was also in the possession of the archdeaconates Darup, Rorup and Stromberg.
