Otto von Bentheim

Otto von Bentheim (* in the 13th century; † before August 3, 1320 ) was canon in Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Otto von Bentheim was the eldest son of Count Egbert von Bentheim and his wife Hadewigis von Oldenburg, daughter of Count Johann von Oldenburg , and thus came from the Gerulfinger family , the first count family in (West) Friesland and Holland . His siblings were

Act

Otto was first mentioned in a document in 1297 or 1298 as the canon of Münster. He was one of the opponents of Bishop Otto von Rietberg . On November 26th, 1303, he asked the cathedral chapter to take action against the canons Otto and Wikbold of wages because of their behavior and to excommunicate them . Otto belonged to the cathedral chapter until 1313.
