Dietrich IV. († January 13, 1049 in Dordrecht ) was Count of Holland from 1039 to 1049 .

Dietrich from the Gerulfinger family was the son of Count Dietrich III. of Holland and the Saxon woman Othelindis. He followed his father as Count of Holland in 1039 .

Dietrich continued his father's policy and expanded the power of the counts in South Holland. This brought him into conflict with the Bishop of Utrecht and the Bishops of Liège and Metz . In 1046, Emperor Heinrich III. a campaign against Dietrich, which however succeeded in recapturing the lost territories. In 1047 Dietrich joined the revolt of Gottfried the Bearded against the emperor. This invaded Holland again, but had to withdraw again after initial successes. In 1049 there was another conflict with the bishops who occupied Dordrecht . Dietrich managed to regain the city, but on January 13, 1049 he was ambushed by the episcopal troops and was killed. Since Dietrich was unmarried, his brother Florens followed him as Count of Holland. Dietrich was buried in Egmond .
