Dietrich III. von Schönberg (* around 1400; † April 12, 1476 in Stolpen ) was Bishop of Meissen from 1463 to 1476 .

The Schönberg family had considerable influence in the diocese of Meißen. The predecessor Dietrich III. - Dietrich IV also uses a different counting method . - Caspar von Schönberg came from this family. Dietrich III. was a younger stepbrother of Caspar.

Dietrich III. studied at the University of Leipzig and then in Rome. From there he brought an important collection of books with him. As a canon, he used his fortune in numerous foundations. As bishop he continued reforming the monasteries. Even if he clearly distinguished himself from the teachings of the Hussites, he maintained close economic relations with the neighboring country and acted as an intermediary between the Curia and King George of Podebrady .

According to his will, he was buried in the Meißner Dom at the Laurentius Altar. His epitaph, consisting of a sandstone slab with a metal relief on top, is located in the Meissen Cathedral. The brass plate is one of several works by the Vischer family .
