Dietrich Klemm
Dietrich Dankwart Klemm (born January 29, 1933 ) is a German geochemist , mineralogist and archaeometrist .
Dietrich Klemm studied mineralogy and geology at the University of Frankfurt and the Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg . He received his doctorate in 1959 with a thesis on the subject of the iron ore deposits of Divrik (Anatolia) and their formation in Heidelberg . At the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, he completed his habilitation in 1964 with the thesis on syntheses and analyzes in the triangular diagrams FeAsS-CoAsS-NiAsS and FeS_1tn2-CoS_1tn2-NiS_1tn2 . In 1979, Klemm was appointed to the professorship for geochemistry and reservoir science at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, where he taught until his retirement in 1998.
Klemm initially carried out research on geological and reservoir topics in Italy, Nigeria, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Egypt. Since 1977, in conjunction with his wife, the Egyptologist Rosemarie Klemm , he has increasingly turned to archaeometric studies to determine the origin of stone material in ancient Egypt, and since 1989 gold deposits in Egypt and Sudan have also been investigated. In 1980, Klemm opened a laboratory in Munich and devoted himself to studies on rock conservation and monument stones in Munich.
