Dietrich Mautz

Dietrich Mautz (* 1942 ) is a German entomologist and beekeeper .

Life

Dietrich Mautz studied zoology and did his doctorate in 1971 at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main with the thesis quantitative investigation on the communication effect of the waggle dances in Apis mellifica carnica (POLLM.) . As the successor to Karl Weiß , he was director of the Bavarian State Institute for Beekeeping in Erlangen from 1986 until his retirement in 2007 and from 2003 in Veitshöchheim .
