Dietrich Neumann (born August 25, 1929 ) is a German architect and university professor .
life and work
Dietrich Neumann studied architecture at the Technical University of Darmstadt . After completing his studies, he worked in various architectural offices and for authorities. He then worked as a research assistant and project manager for major and special projects at the Battelle Institute in Frankfurt am Main . Neumann worked there as a research assistant and as a project manager for large and special projects both in Germany and abroad. In 1964 he opened his own architecture office in Erzhausen .
From 1972 he was professor of design, construction and building construction theory and long-time dean of the architecture department at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences . In 1991 Neumann was appointed founding dean of the architecture faculty at the Erfurt University of Applied Sciences. He also ran an architecture office.
The focus of his work was on the planning and construction of industrial, school, administrative and residential buildings. Neumann designed - together with the architect Egon Gärtner - among other things the new town hall of Erzhausen . Since 1975, together with Ulrich Weinbrenner, he has been responsible as an author for six editions of the standard work "Frick / Knöll Bau Konstruktionslehre" (parts 1 and 2), which has been published since 1909.
Neumann lives with his family in Erzhausen.
