Dietrich Wirth

Dietrich Oswald Wirth (born June 21, 1937 in Breslau ) is a German occupational physiologist and flight physician who also works as an author and journalist.

Life

Wirth first attended elementary school in Breslau from 1943, from 1944 to 1951 the elementary school in Obhausen and then until 1955 the municipal high school in Querfurt . From 1955 to 1960 he studied human medicine at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald , where he also received his doctorate (A) in 1961 on the subject of pupillographic examinations with stimulus lights of different colors .

Wirth worked at the Institute for Aviation Medicine in Königsbrück from 1961 to 1988 , where he worked primarily in the field of functional medical diagnostics. This activity was interrupted from 1965 to 1969 by his specialist training at the Physiological Institute of the University of Leipzig. From 1980 he worked part-time as a lecturer for occupational physiology at the TU Dresden . In 1983 Wirth presented his doctorate (B) at the Military Medical Academy Bad Saarow on the subject of examinations of the physical performance requirements of the flying personnel of the LSK, LV of the NVA as a contribution to the creation of performance medical assessment bases for aviation medical assessment . In 1984 he was awarded the Facultas Docendi ; Wirth was a lecturer at the TU Dresden from 1988 until his retirement in 2002. Here he worked mainly in teaching as well as scientifically in the field of medical functional diagnostics.

In addition to scientific articles, especially on applied physiology, Wirth also published non-fiction books and is a journalist.
