IC 379 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBab in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 406 million light years from the Milky Way and about 145,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on February 9, 1893 .
