IC 389 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is around 210 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 55,000 light years .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 385 , IC 387 , IC 388 , IC 390 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on January 18, 1892 .
