IC 392 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Orion in the northern sky . It is around 181 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 55,000 light years .
The object was discovered on January 6, 1894 by the astronomer Stéphane Javelle .
