Amateur Theater Association 1812 Kremsmünster

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dilettanten-Theaterverein 1812 Kremsmünster from the Upper Austrian municipality of Kremsmünster was founded in 1812 by the then market judge Josef Ferdinand Margelik and can be described as Austria's oldest active amateur stage.

founding

The roots of the association are in the tradition of baroque theater art in Kremsmünster Abbey .

In the first decades of the association, a drawing teacher from the collegiate high school created the basic equipment for the stage and the curtain that is still preserved today, which with the inscription “Everything for you” reveals the noble purpose of supporting poor students. Fathers of the monastery also held chairman and game director positions.

From 1861 the well-known Fischer-Colbrie family from Kremsmünster formed the core and support of the theater for a century . Apart from the last few years in World War II , the performance of the amateur theater club in 1812 can be proven in uninterrupted succession.

Venue

The home of the theater association is a large house on the Tötenhengst in Kremsmünster, which was adapted into a theater around 1800. As part of a modernization in the 1960s, the original orchestra pit and the blocking seats were removed. In the mostly sold-out performances, there is room for almost 100 people in the hall.

Game operation

It was a concern of all game directors to keep this amateur stage at a high level. The repertoire so far has mainly comprised comedies, antics, light plays and, in recent years, ostensibly the popular boulevard theater.

In 1980 a studio stage was set up to stage contemporary theater.

game schedule

For the 2006/2007 season, Das Mädl aus der Vorstadt or Ehrlich lasts longest was brought to the stage by Johann Nestroy . In 2007/2008 the cult comedy "Boeing Boeing" by Marc Camoletti was on the program. In spring, outside the regular season, Mr. Karl was staged in an abandoned shop in the center of the village . The play of the 2008/2009 season was "The Bartered Grandfather". After an extensive renovation, Johann Nestroy's Der Zerrissene will be played from March 4, 2016 .
