The Dimokratiko comma ( Greek Δημοκρατικό Κόμμα , DIKO , Democratic Party ) is a centrist party in the Republic of Cyprus . The seat of the party is in Nicosia . In 1976, DIKO was founded by Spyros Kyprianou . In 2000, Tassos Papadopoulos followed as party leader, who was President of the Republic of Cyprus from 2000 to 2006.

DIKO is the third largest party in the House of Representatives and since the elections on May 22, 2011 it has 9 out of a total of 56 seats in parliament. Marios Karoyian has been party leader since 2006 . In the European Parliament , DIKO was a member of the liberal ALDE group until the 2009 European elections , but then joined the social democratic group S&D .
