Dimples D. is the pseudonym of the American rapper Crystal Smith. The single Sucker DJ made her a one-hit wonder in 1990 .
Career
In 1983, Sucker DJ was one of the first known productions by Marley Marl (Marlon Lu'ree Williams), an American music producer and DJ that featured a female MC , rapper Crystal Smith. Initially , the track was not very successful .
It wasn't until a remix was recorded seven years later that Sucker DJ hit the charts in Europe . In Germany and Great Britain there were top 20 placements, in Austria the song even rose to the top 10.
In the 1990s version of Sucker DJ , samples of the theme music from the television series Beaubergende Jeannie (original title: I Dream of Jeannie ) were processed, which was created in the 1960s. The composition was by Hugo Montenegro , the text by Buddy Kaye. The track remained the only hit from Dimples D.
