Dinalpin

The Dinalpin was a sports car from the Mexican automobile manufacturer Diesel Nacional (DINA for short), which was manufactured under license.

Development history and technology

The vehicles were essentially identical in construction to their French sister models Alpine A110 , as released by sports car manufacturer Alpine in 1962. Jean Rédélé , the founder and owner of the Alpine sports car brand at the time, signed contracts with various other automobile manufacturers who then produced his vehicles under license. The Dinalpin, which was built in Mexico, is still the only sports car to be produced entirely in this country. The vehicles were produced in a plant in the Vallejo industrial area in Mexico City ( Mexico ). The name Dinalpin was derived from the two brand names DINA and Alpine. The design of the vehicles came from Phillipe Charles. Three versions were replicated in Mexico: Dinalpin Berlinette, Dinalpin GT4 and Dinalpin Cabriolet. The numbers remained rather low. One reason for this was probably the relatively high new car price; In 1970, for example, you paid more for a Dinalpin than for a Ford Mustang, which was significantly larger and more powerfully motorized in comparison. First the Dinalpin was equipped with the four-cylinder engine from the Renault 8 with a displacement of 1100 cc . From 1970 the larger engine from the Renault 8S or Renault 10 with 1300 cc displacement was also available.

Models

Dinalpin Berlinette

The Dinalpin Berlinette is the sister model of the Alpine A110 Berlinette from 1962. The A110 Berlinette has become a legend thanks to its many successes in motorsport. Approx. 508 vehicles of this model were manufactured in Mexico.

Dinalpin GT4

The Dinalpin GT4 is a four-seater coupé and corresponds to its sister model Alpine A110 GT4 from 1962. The body was designed by Chappe et Gessalin , a body-building company based in Brie-Comte-Robert . About 138 vehicles of this model were produced in Mexico.

Dinalpin Cabriolet

The Dinalpin Cabriolet is the sister model of the rare Alpine A110 Cabriolet. About 67 vehicles of this model were built in Mexico. Unlike the other two models, the convertible was only manufactured in Mexico from 1965 to 1967.
