Ding ( Di ctionary N ice G rep) is free dictionary search software . It is a Tk- based graphical frontend to command line programs such as a grep / egrep, aspell / ispell and fortune , with which it scans local text files , or DICT , with which it can also access data sources via the Internet via the DICT protocol. Ding already contains a German-English dictionary with around 340,000 word groups. The program has many configuration options, such as search settings, language (German or English) and colors. It has history and auxiliary functions. It can be set to automatically look up words that are highlighted in any application.
