Dinorá de Carvalho

Dinorá de Carvalho (born June 1, 1905 in Uberaba , Minas Gerais state , † 1980 in São Paulo ) was a Brazilian composer and pianist .

Life

Carvalho studied at the São Paulo Conservatory and was then a student of Isidore Philipp . She performed in Brazil and Europe as a concert pianist and then took composition lessons with Lamberto Baldi . Since 1939 she has directed a women's orchestra she founded, the "Orquestra Feminina de São Paulo".

She composed four piano concertos, orchestral and piano pieces, ballets and stage music, a psalm setting, choirs and songs .
