Dio Kobayashi (born August 28, 1972 in Shika , Ishikawa Prefecture ) is a Japanese circus artist and was the first Japanese circus artist to be a member of the "World of Top Entertainer tour". His other stage names are "Kinosuke Otawa" and "Clown Joker".

biography

Dio Kobayashi was born in Shika, Ishikawa Prefecture in 1972. After graduating in "Design" from the Hakui Technical High School ( Hakui Kōgyō-kōtō-gakkō ) he became a TV cameraman in order to later switch to the stage performer at the production company "Event" ( ibento kaisha ). In March 1997 he enrolled at the "Kinjō-Kurzhochschule" ( Kinjō Tanki Daigaku ) in Hakusan. During this time he also took part in the “World of Top Entertainer tour”. In 1999 he moved to Columbia University .

Career

During a car exhibition, Kobayashi made a flying trapeze number over the vehicles for a promotional film without safety nets 6 meters above the ground. This spectacular action gave him the name "Dio". Dio has performed as a freelance artist in the Bolijoy Circus, the Taiwanese National Circus and the Cirque du Soleil in Canada. In 2001 he toured the Hakugin Show and the Wa Charity Tour with singer Toshi, lead singer of the band X-Japan. In 2002 Dio was part of the production of the anime series Kaleido Star as a special consultant. One of the characters in the series was named Dio in his honor. In 2003, Dio married fashion model Yu-ko and quit a circus performer when his daughter was born. In 2005 he had the first film role as a traveling entertainer in Princess Racoon , an operetta directed by Seijun Suzuki. That year, Dio and Yu-ko divorced, he remained a single father. He is the founder and director of SWAJ (Sports Whip Association Japan).
