The Diocese of Sydney, Australia and New Zealand ( Russian Сиднейская и Австралийско-Новозеландская епархия , also: Australian and New Zealand Diocese , German Diocese of Sydney, Australia and New Zealand) is a diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church in Australia , New Zealand and Indonesia ; the bishopric is Sydney . The Korean Orthodox mission and the Orthodox mission in Pakistan are administratively assigned to this diocese.

history

The first Russian Orthodox parish in Australia was St. Nicholas Church , which was founded in Brisbane in 1926 . The Australian Diocese of ROKA was established in 1946 with the bishopric in Brisbane. In 1950 the bishopric was moved to Sydney to the Peter and Paul Cathedral . In 1994 the Korean Orthodox mission was assigned to the diocese. In 2005, parishes were added to Indonesia that had previously been subordinate to the Hong Kong Metropolitan Region of the Ecumenical Patriarchate . In 2012 the Pakistani Mission was founded in Pakistan .
