Diose

A dose is a monosaccharide with two carbon atoms. The general empirical formula for an unmodified dose is: (C · H 2 O) 2 .

The monosaccharides are divided into subclasses, which are determined by the number of carbon atoms in the molecule. A subclass includes a can. The only possible compound is glycolaldehyde  (2-hydroxyethanal). He belongs to the group of substances of the aldoses ; a corresponding ketosis is structurally not possible, since this requires at least three carbon atoms ( dihydroxyacetone ). In the other subclasses, the monosaccharides have more than two carbon atoms.
