Dioskourides (Antigonide)

Dioskourides ( Greek  Διοσκουρίδης ; † after 313 BC), son of Ptolemy (?), Was a nephew and naval commander of the Diadochian ruler Antigonos Monophthalmos in the 4th century BC. His brother was probably Ptolemy .

During the Third Diadoch War, Dioskourides led in 313 BC. Chr. His uncle staying in the recently conquered Tire ( siege of Tire ) 80 ships which he had requisitioned in the ports of the Hellespont and of Rhodes . Then he was sent with 190 ships to the Aegean Sea with the task of defending the islands allied with Antigonus against Cassander and pulling neutral islands on his side, from which the Nesiotenbund was finally formed. In the same year Dioskourides fended off an attack by Athens on Lemnos initiated by Kassander . After that, he is no longer reported.
