Dioxanes
In organic nomenclature, dioxanes are a group of saturated six-membered heterocycles with two oxygen atoms in the ring. There are three structural isomers of the dioxane base:
1,2-Dioxane belongs to the group of peroxides and is therefore unstable compared to 1,3-dioxanes and 1,4-dioxanes. Unsubstituted 1,2-dioxane could not yet be isolated. However, substituted 1,2-dioxanes have been made.
