You (clan)
The you are a clan of Somaliland . They make up about 15% of the population of Somalia .
Most of you live in the north-western part of the Somali inhabited area, i. H. in the Awdal region in northwest Somalia ( Somaliland ), in Djibouti and in the adjacent part of the Ethiopian Somali region ( Ogaden ). Here they are represented by the subclans of Issa (Ciise), Gadabursi, Gadsan and Suure (Akisho, Gurgure). The Issa make up the majority of the population in Djibouti and dominate politics there. The former President of Somaliland, Dahir Riyale Kahin , is a member of the Gadabursi-Dir.
The Biomal (Biyomaal, Biimaal) as a further subclan live spatially separated from the other Dir clans in the port city of Merka in southern Somalia and traditionally play an important political role there.
