The Director Nunatak is a distinctive nunatak in graham land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises up between the head ends of the Balch and Breitfuß glaciers .
Aerial photos by Hunting Aerosurveys Ltd. from 1955 to 1957 were used by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) for mapping. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it that way in 1959 because the Nunatak was used by a FIDS sled team on Detaille Island in 1957 as a landmark for the route to the Avery Plateau .
