The gold coin process

Labudde was invited in June 2019 as a reviewer for the process in the Big Maple Leaf theft , the theft of the Big Maple Leaf gold coin from the exhibition in the Bode Museum . In his report, Labudde had created a digital simulation from photos and inferred from this about the accused. This technique was used for the first time in a German courtroom during the trial and is otherwise more common in computer games.

In the process, he was heavily criticized for his approach and methodological errors in the preparation of the expert report. The defendants' attorney, Stefan König, accused him of "dubious, premature and biased approach". He also spoke of a “pseudoscientific” approach by Labudde, which does not shrink from lying in court. Overall, the report and the method were rated very critically.
