Dirk Pette

Dirk Pette (born February 14, 1933 in Hamburg ) is a German biochemist and professor of physiological chemistry at the University of Konstanz .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1951, Dirk Pette studied medicine in Hamburg and Geneva. In 1958 he received his license to practice medicine and obtained a doctorate to become Dr. med. In 1963 he completed his habilitation in physiological chemistry at the University of Marburg.

In 1967 he was appointed to the newly founded University of Konstanz and until 1999 held the professorship for metabolic and muscle biochemistry as well as enzymology in the biology department. From 1973 to 1983 he was spokesman for the Collaborative Research Center 138 and from 1984 to 1998 he was the spokesman for the Collaborative Research Center 156.

Dirk Pette is the son of the research couple Heinrich Pette (1887–1964) and Edith Pette (1897–1972), the founders of the Heinrich Pette Institute, Leibniz Institute for Experimental Virology .

He lives on the island of Reichenau .
