Dirk Wiese (bobsledder)

Dirk Wiese (born January 19, 1965 in Winterberg ) is a former German bobsleigh driver who was vice world champion in the four-man bobsleigh in 1997 .

Dirk Wiese, who started for BSC Winterberg , won the German championship title in the two-man bobsleigh in 1989 together with Olaf Hampel . Wiese received his first international medal at the 1991 European Bobsleigh Championship , when he and the pushers Thorsten Wölm , Oliver Rogge and Olaf Hampel won the silver medal behind the Swiss bobsleigh, which was driven by Gustav Weder . Two years later, Gustav Weder won again at the European Bobsleigh Championships in 1993 , followed by Dirk Wiese with Christoph Bartsch , Oliver Rogge and Wolfgang Haupt as in 1991 second place.In 1994 Wiese, Bartsch, Michael Liekmeier and Haupt received the bronze medal behind Bobs from Italy and the United Kingdom. In 1997 Wiese drove the four-man bobsleigh with Christoph Bartsch, Torsten Voss and Michael Liekmeier to the bronze medal again, with the two Swiss bobsleighs by Reto Götschi and Marcel Rohner ahead of him . At the 1997 Bobsleigh World Championship held in St. Moritz, the German Wolfgang Hoppe's bobsleigh won ahead of Dirk Wieses bobsleigh. In 1998 Dirk Wiese won his second German championship title together with Marco Jakobs in the two-man bobsleigh. At the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano, Wiese and Jacobs took eleventh place.
