Disc computer report

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Disc-EDV-Report (DER) was from 1988 to 1994 a software magazine with a 5.25 "floppy disk for IBM PCs and compatibles from the Erwin Simon publishing house, Ulm (now known as SAD GmbH).

The publication was initially monthly, then from 1993 every two months. In addition to instructions for the shareware and public domain software on the enclosed diskette, the magazine presented and tested new software (both commercial and shareware), presented computer books, printed game tips and programming courses as well as letters to the editor. The diskette initially contained software for DOS only , then in issue 1/2 1993 for the first time a program for Windows (a card game). Popular software on the exercise disk at the time was, for example, McAfee VirusScan , various command line tools, the game Hülsi by the author and member of the editorial team, Roland G. Hülsmann (later known from XProfan ), or games from Apogee Software such as Commander Keen . The price of the magazine was 14.80 DM.

According to its own statements, the Simon publishing house was the first to publish a diskette magazine in 1987 , i.e. a complete magazine on diskette. This was the predecessor of Disc-EDV-Report.
